30 Day Pokemon Challenge: Day 27. Favourite Pokemon Game.

Today, I am going to be talking my favourite Pokemon game, which you may be bale to guess by looking at the past posts for this Pokemon challenge. Let’s take a look!

Firstly, I should mention that whilst I have played a Pokemon game from each generation, I have spent most of my time with the older generations. That being said, although I do have a fondness and nostalgia for Pokemon Blueand Yellow, they aren’t my favourite in the series. No, my favourite Pokemon game is Pokemon Silver.

For me, POkemon Silver (and Gold) are great examples of what a good video game sequel should be. These games took what the formual of the original games and improved it, without losing what made the first games special. You had a whole new region to explore, with an additional one hundred Pokemon to encounter. Yet Pokemon Silver, also ahad a few nods to its predecessors with appearances from a number of familiar faces. Pokemon Silver may not be the largest Pokemon game, but I think that works in its favour, as the developers focussed on getting the gameplay right, rather than adding too many new, but less fleshed out, features.

As for spin off titles, as I mentioned in my most recent Gaming Collection post, Pokemon Conquest is my favourite spin off title. It combines the world of Pokemon with the turn base strategy genre (think Final Fantasy Tactics). Its such a unique addition to the pokemon franchise that it just stands out for me.

So, there was my favourite Pokemongame! Which Pokemon game is your favourite? Let me know in the comments below and I’ll talk to you soon!

  1. My favourite was heartgold. I loved the original silver and wanted to replay it only to discover the battery in the cartridge had died so it wouldn’t save. I bought heartgold to revisit it and thought it improved the experience – more pokémon to collect, the pokéwalker, no battery that could lose my save…
