Thero’s Gaming A-Z: H.

Its that time of the week, where I talk about a video game, this time its about a game beginning with the letter ‘H’!

This turned out to be the hardest post for me to write, in this A-Z series, so far. Its turn out that I haven’t played that many games beginning with the letter ‘H’. I can’t talk about Her Story as I have already recommended before. So instead, I am going about one of the film/book tie-in games that I really enjoyed playing, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone for the GameBoy Color.

Unsurprisingly, this game follows the story of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, but where it starts to stand out is that it follows the book more than the film. Unlike other Harry Potter video games, the GameBoy Color version is not an adventure game but more of an RPG. As you join Harry in his first year at Hogwarts, you will not only attend classes, but battle magical enemies using the spells you have learnt. Also, as you explore Hogwarts, you will collect Chocolate Frog cards, which can be used in those battles.

If you were to tell me that a developer was going to create an RPG game based on the first Harry Potter book, I would have struggled to see how this would have been done. However, after playing Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, on GameBoy Color, I’ve realised that jsut because you didn’t thinka genre would fit a franchise, doesn’t mean iot would not work.

OK, this was a tough post to write for, so I am curious what game beginning with ‘H’ you would have chosen. Let me know in the comments below and I’ll talk to you soon!
