Gaming in March 2021.

We’ve reached Apirl! Is it scaring anyone else that we’ve already made it through a quarter of this year? I’ll be honest, I haven’t spent as much time playing video games last month, so this post will be a little shorter than normal. Well, let’s take a look at what I did manage to play!

In March, I only spent some time playing The Elder Scrolls Online, solely PvP with my friend. We’re still experimenting with our Nightblade characters but so far, we are having fun with them. It is certainly a nice change to be the annoying teleporting, disappearing player than the one on the receiving end of the damage from said player. My highlight of playing PvP was being the ‘lucky’ individual to carry an enemy scroll back to our forts. Somehow, I managed to survive and make it back with the scroll. I do have a week off work in April, so this may provide me with the opportunity to get back into the PvE content of ESO.

My boyfriend and I are a taking a slight break from Final Fantasy XIV, instead we’ve started to play some other co-op games. We started off with Outward, which we have surprisingly become quite good at. It si an interesting change to play characters who are not overpowered, ‘Chosen Ones’ but instead an ordinary person trying to survive in a fantasy world. The other game we are playing together is Stardew Valley. I know, I got burnt out on the game back in November, but there is something incredibly fun at playing this chilled out game with another person. We are finding Stardew Valley is a great game to play, to unwind after work. We are fairly early on in the game, still in the first year, but I imagine it won’t be long before we have our farm properly up and running.

Yes, I am wearing a bin lid as a hat…

Moving onto my handheld consoles, whilst I haven’t completed any games on any of them, I have made some serious progress. Firstly, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, on my Switch. Yes, I’m stilling playing this game! Still, I have managed to complete two more months in the Blue Lions storyline. I really feel that I am getting towards the end of story, whioch I will (hopefully) finish in April. I will be taking a break from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and I will be starting Bravely Default II, instead of starting one of the other houses storylines in Three Houses. Sticking with the Nintendo consoles, I have been making my way through Monster Hunter Stories on the 3DS. This game is an interesting spin off of the Monster Hunter series and is an interesting mix of Pokemon‘s gameplay with Monster Hunter‘s setting. Its a little too soon to give my opinion of the game, but so far its been pretty fun. Finally, on my Vita, I’ve been chipping away at Lego The Lord of the Rings. As I write this, I have almost earnt the platinum trophy- I just need to grind a few more studs to but the last few locked characters. Lego The Lord of the Rings was a fun game and is plays pretty much like any other of the Traveller’s Tales Lego games.

My second win!

Yes, with the introduction of season 4, I’ve found myself playing Fall Guys once more. I’ve actually really enjoyed the new rounds, in particular Roll On and Skyline Stumble. The futuristic theme has been well done. The only thing I haven’t enjoyed is the Squad mode with random people. This is definitely a mode that I will only play with friends, as playing with strangers is just a frustrating experience. I still enjoy playing Fall Guys and it will probably remain on my PS4 for some time to come.

What a welcoming place…

And finally, on PS4, I am stilling making my way through Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. I feel like I am almost at the end of teh story and, if I’m honest, I am a little sad its almsot ending. I have loved my time with this game. It is a fantastic JRPG with a fantastic world to explore, colourful characters to get tto know and a well written story. I can definitely see why people consider Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch to be one of the best JRPGs. I am going to earn the platinum trophy for this game, which I hope to do so in April. After Ni No Kuni, I think I will be looking to play a couple of short games, before diving into another story heavy game.

And that was the gaming the I did in March! What have you guys been playing? Let me know in the comments below and I’ll talk to you soon!

  1. I’ve been obsessed with Persona 5 Strikers and Yakuza lately (as well as some chill nights on ACNH). I’ve been meaning to try Elder Scrolls online because I want to meet some gaming friends, so it’s nice to know it’s actually decent as I’ve heard a few negatives about it ☺️

    1. I’ve been meaning to get into the Yakuza series for quite some time, which one are you playing? ESO has come a long way since its release. I can only speak for the EU server, but there are some seriously nice people there, so you may have some luck finding gaming friends there.

      1. I’ve finished 0 and I’m currently on Kiwami. I wanted to play them in chronological order so it makes more sense in my brain haha. Only problem is, I preferred playing as Majima in 0 and don’t get to play as him again until Kiwami 2 🙃😂

  2. On break from the City of Heroes… Fiddling about in Kerbal Space Program.

Actually, fiddling about is misleading. I’ve got a project I’ve been working on off-and-on for about three years, probably invested a couple hundred hours at this point. (tl;dr version: A particularly difficult challenge I’ve set myself.) And now, I’m finally flying out the full dress rehearsal… Will my groundwork pay off? Only time will tell, and it will probably take a month or two before I know.

It’s an odd playstyle, but I enjoy it. Setting myself a goal, developing and testing the spacecraft, developing and testing the mission techniques and flight plan… And then flying it out and seeing if the whole structure works.

The weird part is, I’ll do this in open world games. But if a game actually asked me to do this kind of stuff (hundreds of hours of work with a single go/no go payoff at the end), I’d uninstall the damm thing.
