We’ve now reached the halfway point for the last decade! This was a difficult year to choose some video games from, as there were so many good games released. However, I’ve decided to choose the two games that I finished, and loved, to talk about today. So, let’s check them out!
The first game, released in 2015, that I’m going to talk about is Her Story. I actually first played Her Story last year, which you can read about in this post from the Upon Completion blog and I can’t believe it took me so long to try out this fantastic game! The premise is simple: you have been given access to the police database, whcih allows you to watch video clips of a woman being interviewed about her husband’s disappearance. The catch is that you have to search the dtatabase by entering keywords and clips are from seven different interviews. This means you have to play detective to piece together the story of what happened during those interviews. I loved Her Story, from start to finish, it was well written and well acted- it just kept engaged from the moment I started to play it. This game was also my first FMV game and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better introduction!
The second game from 2015 is one that reignited my love for one of my favourite series- Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate. OK, I’ll say it now, I didn’t hate Assassin’s Creed: Unity, however its technical issues combined with a rather bland story and cast of characters, meant that it wasn’t a great entry in the series. So, there was a little pressure on Assassin’s Creed: Synidcate to prove that series still had its spark. And fortunately, it didn’t disappoint. Set in Victorian London, players are able to free the city from the Templar’s grasp with the help of the Frye twins, Jacob and Evie. The twins are definitely one of the best parts of the game, as their relationship is highly entertaining to watch and anyone with siblings will confirm it is a very realistic relationship. London itself is a fantastic setting and does feel like a bustling Victorian city. All in all, for me, Assassin;s Creed: Synidcate is one of the best entries in the series and is the last that follows the tradiotnal action adventure gameplay.
So, there were the two games from 2015 that were important to me! Like I mentioned before, this was actually a difficult year to pick the games from, as there were so many great ones like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Undertale. I’m curious as to what games released in 2015 that you loved playing, so let me know in the comments below and I’ll talk to you soon!
