Thero’s Recommended Gaming- Pokemon: Let’s Go Eevee/Pikachu!

Since this week will see the release of Pokemon Sword and Shield, I thought I would get in the monster catching mood by making some Pokemon themed posts. So, let’s start of this week with a gaming recommendation!

Today, I am going to recommend the Nintendo Switch games, Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu! and Pokemon: Let’s Go Eevee! I am not ashamed to admit that the reason I bought a Nintendo Switch last year, was so I could by Let’s Go Eevee. Look, I’ve waited twenty years to be able to have Eevee as my official starter, so don’t judge me…

So what are the Pokemon: Let’s Go games? Essentially, they are remakes of the Game Boy Color game, Pokemon Yellow. After receiving your starter Pokemon, you can travel around the Kanto region, collecting Pokemon and gym badges, as well as fighting Team Rocket. If you’ve ever played one of the main Pokemon games, then you know what these games are about.

However, like with many of the Pokemon remakes, there are some new additions to the game. One of the major changes is that you no longer fight wild Pokemon but instead use the catching mechanic from Pokemon Go app. Additionally, a second player can join in with the Pokemon battles by using the second joy con.

For many veteran Pokemon fans, the Let’s Go games are somewhat on the easy side. In fact, I was able to defeat almost of the gym leaders and the elite four using just my Eevee. However, I believe that these two games are great introduction to the Pokemon video games, with the more streamlined gameplay and having the option of a second player.

So, if you just want to revisit the Kanto region or you want to enter the world of Pokemon for the first time, I recommend you play Pokemon: Let’s Go Eevee! or Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu!.
