The spooky season is well and truly upon us! Elder Scrolls Online have also joined in the seasonal fun with the return of the Witches Festival. So, let’s dive in and take a look at this MMO event!
How do you take part in the event?
To join in the Hallowe’en fun, its really easy. If this is your first Witches Festival, go to the Crown store and in the Holiday section, pick up the free quest, ‘The Witchmother’s Bargain’. Once you’ve completed the quest, you’re ready to join in the frightful fun. If you’ve already completed ‘The Witchmother’s Bargain’ , then you can jump straight into the main part of the Hallowe’en event.
What is the event?
‘The Witchmother’s Bargain’ is not an overly long quest, at most you’ll just have to face a boss of a delve somewhere. To complete the quest, all you need to do is collect a pumpkin, guts and essence of death (that’s the part where you need the delve boss!). After successfully completing the mission, you’ll received the Witchmother’s Whistle, which gives you a 100% experience boost and turns you into a skeleton.
The rest of the event is all about defeating boss monsters, like delve bosses, world bosses and the boss monsters found at the Dark Anchors. Defeating these will give you Plunder Skulls, which can be opened for more spooky goodies.
What are the rewards?
The Plunder Skulls give you a chance to earn a lot of different Hallowe’en/spooky themed rewards, including recipes, Hallowjack motifs, house furnishings and runeboxes. This year a new momento has also been added, the Skeleton Marionette, which you can see in the picture above. Like with Apple-Bobbing Memento, you have collect a number of pieces to earn this reward.
You will also be able to keep the Witchmother’s Whistle as a memento, after the event has ended, although it won’t be able to give you the experience boost or change your appearance.
The Dremora Plunder skulls also offer you the chance of earning Dremora themed crafting motifs. The type of boss you defeat will affect the crafting motif that you earn. Here is a list of which bosses will get you which motifs:
- Final Arena Bosses drop Dremora Motif pages for Bows and Legs.
- Dark Anchor, Geyser Bosses, and zone Dragons drop Dremora Motif pages for Daggers and Gloves.
- Delve Bosses drop Dremora Motif pages for Staves and Belts.
- Final Dungeon Bosses drop Dremora Motif pages for Helmets and Maces.
- Public Dungeon and Quest Bosses drop Dremora Motif pages for Shields and Boots.
- Final Trial Bosses drop Dremora Motif pages for Swords and Chests.
- World Bosses drop Dremora Motif pages for Shoulders and Axes.
The Dremora Plunder Skulls also have some new items added, including: Glenmoril Armor outfit styles; Glenmoril treasure maps, that will lead you to Glenmoril Weapon outfit styles and Witches Festival Writs, that will allow crafters to join in the Hallowe’en fun.
Finally, you can earn the first berry for the Pure Snow Indrik mount, as the first boss you defeat each day will also drop two event tickets.
I love the Witches Festival. You can put as much as time as you want into it but the more you take part the more rewarded you’ll be. The thing that really sells the event, is that you can take part whilst still adventuring around Tamriel. As the bosses are pretty much everywhere, you don’t need to backtrack, unless you really want to.
I love the new additions, especially the Writs and Glenmoril Armour style, which will keep players who have already completed the event, in previous years, happy.
Overall, this is a great Hallowe’en themed event, that I highly recommend ESO players to take part in. If you do what to join in the witchy fun, you have until 2pm (GMT) Monday 4th November to do so. Have fun!
