Here’s a belated, ‘Happy New Year!’ from me. What? Its not my fault my last update post was on New Year’s Eve! Still, although its less than a week old, 2019 has been pretty good so far. And while I haven’t made any New Year resolutions, I feel like I’ve had a productive week; I’ve made progress both on my Goodreads reading challenge and on the gaming challenge I’m doing with Khinjarsi at Upon Completion. Well, enough chit-chat, let’s jump to what I’ve been doing!
What have I been reading?
Last week, I finished Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones. Its a fantasy novel with a fairy tail like theme. The book follows Liesl, an innkeeper’s daughter, who must try and outsmart the Goblin King who has taken her sister. Yes, I know what some of you are thinking… isn’t this the plot of the film, Labyrinth? That’s what I thought when I saw the book on Amazon. It turns out that Wintersong is not all that similar to the David Bowie film but it has more in common with Phantom of the Opera than it does with Labyrinth. Still, I really enjoyed and I’ll probably be picking up its sequel soon.
Currently, I’m re-reading Stardust by Neil Gaiman, which i haven’t read since 2012. Its quite a short book, so I’ll most likely finish it early this week.
What have I been playing?
Anyone who follows the Upon Completion blog will know that Khinjarsi and I are are attempting a gaming challenge, in which we pick a game for each other to play each month. For my January pick, Khinjarsi chose The Sexy Brutale. The nest way to describe this game is think of it as an Agatha Christie novel, with a groundhog day game mechanic. So far, its been an enjoyable game and one I’ve almost finished playing. I guess I can say the challenge is going well for me!
Aside from The Sexy Brutale, I have also been playing a bit more of Slay the Spire, which I think is going to be one of those games I’m going to pick up every so often. Despite failing miserably at my 2018 Assassin’s Creed challenge, I’m determined to continue my progress in 2019, as I’ve rediscovered my love for this series. This week, I’ve been completing some more of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’s DLC, Freedom Cry, which is far more satisfying than Assassin’s Creed III’s DLC!
What’s going on with the blog?
Not only have I been productive with my challenges, but also with posting on this blog too! In case you missed last week’s posts, here they are:
- Thero’s Top Five Most Anticipated Games Releasing In 2019.
- January Humble Monthly… Unboxing?!
- A Year of My Life In Games- 1997.
This week, I’m hoping to post a Judging Books By Their Covers post, 1998’s A Year of My Life in Games post and maybe a video game review.
And that was my week! What have you been getting up to, so far, in 2019? Let me know in the comments and I’ll talk to you soon!
