Update: The Festive Season Is Upon Us!

Depending on the sort of person that you are, you are either really excited that December is hear or doing your best Grinch/Scrooge impression. For me, despite working in retail, I love Christmas especially being able to spend time with my family, even if it is only for a couple of days.

Still, there are still quite a few days to go until the 25th, so let’s move on to what I’ve been doing last week.

What have I been reading?

I’ve finished the Night Angels trilogy, by Brent Weeks, last week and the final book, Beyond the Shadows did not disappoint! The finale was just as epic and as bittersweet as I remembered and has definitely left me wanting to read more from Brent Weeks. If you are someone who has enjoyed reading A Song of Ice and Fire and are looking for a darker fantasy with a large cast of characters, then the Night Angels Trilogy may be worth checking out.

I’m currently reading Ka: The Lives of Dar Oakley by John Crowley. I’ve only read about one hundred pages, so I only have some initial impressions to give. Its reminds me a lot of Watership Down, with its tone and pacing, also with the fact that it is focusing on the lives of animals, although this time its with crows not rabbits. So far, its been an enjoyable read and I hoping to finish at some point this week.

What have I been playing?

I have been playing a little bit of ESO but mainly to complete the Undaunted Celebration event. I’ve also been playing Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’s DLC, Freedom Cry. Apart from that, I haven’t been playing much else… except I did mange to buy myself a Nintendo Switch with Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee!. It was an accident, I swear.  OK, let’s be honest if there was going to be a game that persuaded me to buy the Switch would be a Pokemon game that allowed me to have an Eevee as a starter Pokemon. Not the award winning Zelda game or anything from the Mario series, but a game with Eevee in it. Does that really surprise any of you?

Joking aside, the Nintendo Switch is proving to be a fantastic console and Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee! is managing to hit all my nostalgia and hopefully I’ll be reviewing it soon!

What’s going on with the blog?

My Daily December challenge is off to a nice start- last week I posted five different posts. Here they are again, in case you missed them:

This week, I’m hoping to post a variety of different posts including: A Humble Bundle unboxing; judging November’s book covers; looking at my life in games in 1994; a gift guide and a couple of other posts.

And that has been my week! How has your Christmas/winter preparations been going? Let me know in the comments and I’ll talk to you soon!
