So, I haven’t been up to much this. My sister infected me with her cold, although she claims she has the flu but I’m not convinced. Anyway, I digress. Since, I’ve been under the weather, I haven’t been in the right mindset to really do much of anything. I did manage to play a few games, so I guess it wasn’t too unproductive…
What have I been reading?
This week, I’ve been re-reading a book I haven’t read in years, The Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks. Wow, is this darker than I remembered. I mean, I recalled it was dark, gritty fantasy novel but the first couple of hundred pages definitely let you know this isn’t a fantasy novel full of sunshine and rainbows. In fact, I think it could give Game of Thrones a run for its money! Despite its dark nature, I am loving my re-read of The Way of Shadows and I’m to start the second book of The Night Angel trilogy this week.
What have I been playing?
Unfortunately, I forgot to take any screenshots this week, due to my cold addled brain, sorry! In Elder Scrolls Online, I’ve been working way through the Morrowind content. While, I prefer the forests of Valenwood and the beauty of Summerset, I still am blown way by the unique setting of Morrowind. Although I’ve never really seriously played The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, I can tell that the ESO team really took the time to recapture the feel of the original Elder Scrolls game.
From the lava, mushroom filled land of Morrowind, to the dark and foggy streets of early 20th century London, I’ve also spent some time playing Vampyre. Vampyre was one the games I was looking forward to being released in 2018 and I can say, so far, it doesn’t disappoint. The crafting and levelling up system really allows you to make DR. Jonathan Reid your won. Also, it has an old school RPG vibe, as there is little hand holding and a real sense that your actions will have consequences. Overall, a solid RPG experience.
The final game that I started to dabble with over the weekend is Path of Exile, a free to play Diablo-esque game. I haven’t really spent enough time to give my opinion but so far, I’m enjoying my time playing it and it seems to be a really good action RPG.
