E3 2018 is almost upon us, so I guess now is as good a time as any to talk about what I games are going to be talked about at this year’s conference.
This is going to be a list of the games I would like to see mentioned at E3, I’ll try and organise by developer/publisher, but apart from that they aren’t in any particular order. Enjoy!
Kingdom Hearts III.
Seriously Square Enix, how long has this game been in development?! To put things into perspecive the last main game in the series, Kingdom Hearts II, was released in 2006. Do you know what other games were released in 2006? Call of Duty 3, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Dead Rising, Gears of War and Just Cause. All these games have received a sequel by now. So what I would like from Square Enix is that Kingdom Hearts III is definitely being released in 2018. And more trailers.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
Let’s move onto a game we know is being released in 2018, Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix have won me over with this reboot and I want to see where Lara goes next. Asside from a trailer, not much is known about this game, so I’m hoping to see some gameplay footage.
The Avengers Project.
Not a lot is known about this game, officially, aside from the fact it its being developed by Crystak Dynamics (the guy sbehind the rebooted Tomb Raider series) and Eidos Montreal (the guys behind Deus Ex). All I really want is to know what the game is!
After teasing Fallout fans for 24 hours with their teaser stream, Bethesda revealed Fallout 76. This reveal led to more questions rather than answers. The general consensus is that Fallout 76 is most likely some sort of survival game, that is mostly likely going to some form of multiplayer. However Bethesda hasn’t actually confirmed any of this, so hopefully, they will confirm more in their showcase.
The Elder Scroll VI.
OK, this is more wishful thinking on my part, but it has been nearly seven years since the original release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Even if it was just a teaser trailer, just to know that Bethesda is working on the next game in the series, would fill my inner RPG gamer with joy.
Elder Scrolls Online future content.
It has already been confirmed that the next lot of DLC is going to mentioned in the showcase, and I know we’ve just had Summerset released, I just need more content for my current ESO addiction!
Here is a game that no one seems to know anything about, but people are stilled hyped for it. The only thing we really know about Starfiled is that it is a sci-fi game being developed by Bethesda. I really want this year to be the year that we finally get more information on this elusive game, as the idea of a Bethesda sci-fi RPG to join The Elder Scrolls and Fallout series, get mes excited.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
Assassin’s Creed made a bit of a comeback last year with Origins, but I have mixed feelings about the recent announcement of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. On one hand, I’m all for another Assassin’s Creed game, especially if it is set in Ancient Greece but on the other hand, I’m concerned that Ubisoft is slipping back into the habit of yearly Assassin’s Creed releases, which could damaged the series. Hopefully, more details in Ubisoft’s showcase will allay my concerns.
Ghost of Tsushima.
An open world game set in feudal Japan? Yes, please! As of yet, not a lot is known about this game except that it is being developed by Sucker Punch ( the guys behind the Infamous series) and looks to be a Playstation 4 exclusive. Like with a lot of games on my E3 wishlist, I’m hoping for more details on the game and possible gameplay footage.
A cyberpunk themed RPG by the creators of the Witcher series, that is definitely something I want to play! At the moment, apart from a teaser trailer, we are little shot on the details. However with CD Projkt Red having recently trademarking Cyberpunk 2077, perhaps this is a sign we will soon be finding out more about this game?
Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee!
I’ll be honest, if there is any game that is going to persuade to but a Nintendo Switch, it will be a Pokemon game where your starter Pokemon is Eevee. Yep, stuff Zelda and Mario, its the little brown four legged Pokemon that will get me to open my purse. I’ll be honest, I’m not that bothered by the premise, it just that I can have Eeeve as my starter Pokemon, that makes me want this game. So, I’ll be tuning into the Nintendo showcase to see what details they have on the game. Ogh and there’s also that other Pokemon game I’d be interested in…
Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden.
Moving on to a slightly more obscure game, that only really popped up recently for me. Mutant Year Zer: Road to Eden, is a turn based strategy set in a world where humans are extinct. The goal is to lead a team of mutants through this post-human world and survive. The combat looks a lot like Xcom’s combat, with survival and stealth elements thrown in as well. I’m hoping this game’s developers are attending E3 and Mutant Year Zero gets some coverage.
Necromunda: Underhive Wars.
Moving onto another game that I don’t know if it will be shown at E£ but I hope that more details about it will be announced is, Necromunda: Underhive Wars. This game is based off of Games Workshop’s Necromunda game, a game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe in which players take control of rival gangs fighting for control in the Underhives, places below the Hive cities. I imagine that the game is going to be a turn based strategy game but as of yet, little has been revealed, apart from a teaser trailer. Here’s hoping that we will know more soon!
Paradoc’s World of Darkness game.
Let’s finish off my E3 wishlist with a game that has only been hinted at, a World of Darkness game. World of Darkness is tabletop RPG set in our world but where supernatural creatures reside. Paradox bought White Wolf Entertainment, the company that owned the WOrld of Darkness IP. It has been rumoured that the first game, Werewolf: The Apocalypse is due this year, but so far little is known about it. I love the World of Darkness setting and lore, so I really want another RPG set in this world.
So there was my E3 wishlist! Some of these games have already been confirmed, while some are more of a wish on my part. What games would you like to see being talked about at E3? Let me know in the comments and I’ll talk to you soon!
