April Humble Monthly… Unboxing?!

April is now upon us, which means only one thing… the next Humble Monthly Bundle!

1. Outlast 2.

So, we start this bundle off with a horror game, Outlast 2. I’l be honest, I haven’t played the first Outlast game, even if I do have the original in my Steam library, and although I have heard the games are… controversial. Still, I haven’t heard as much about the sequel, which I don’t know if I should take that as a good or bad sign. Either way, I suspect this game will be sitting in my library, unplayed, for a little while.

Price on Steam: £22.99

2. Lara Croft GO.

Aparently I already own this game, but I do’t actually remember buying it. Lara Croft GO is a turn based puzzle game in which you guide Lara through the ruins of a forgotten civilisation. I believe there is similar game called Hitman GO. It looks like it could be a fun puzzle game, so maybe it i time I gave it a go!

Price on Steam: £7.99

3. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

The third game in the bundle is one of the three revealed games for the April bundle. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is the sequel to Deus Ex: Human Revolution, in which you play as Adam Jensen, an augmented human. I did play the first game… up until the first boss and no matter what I did, I just couldn’t defeat. I love the setting of the Deus Ex games, that I think its time to give the series another go.

Price on Steam: 19.99

4. GOD EATER 2: Rage Burst.

Next up is the second revealed game: God Eater 2: Rage Burst. So far this is the third sequel in this bundle, I think I’m starting to see a theme developing…. Digression aside, GOD EATER 2 is an action RPG from Bandai Namco, in which you must defeat giant monsters in order to save humanity. The plot may not be overly original but I’m intrigued enough to give this game a go.

Price on Steam: £39.99

5. Mafia III.

Mafia III  is the last of this month’s revealed games. Set in 1968, the game is all about the criminal underworld and seeking revenge. I’ve never played any of the Mafia games but my brother speaks highly of them. However, it is an open world game and at the moment, I have plenty of open world games that I am already playing; so for now, this will go on my ‘to-play’ pile.

Price on Steam: £34.99

6. Subterrain.

Subterrain is a top down, survival game, in which you are the lone survivor in a Mars colony. The aim of the game is to try and survive, while exploring the colony. I like the premise of the game but I think I will save this one for October, as it seems to have a slight horror vibe to it.

Price on Steam: £12.99

7. Aer: Memories of Old.

Up next, we have a game with a rather unique concept. In Aer: Memories of Old, you embark on a pilgrimage in the Land of the Gods. You are also a shapeshifter who can transform into a bird. The game looks like it has a nice blend of exploration, platforming and puzzle solving. As it seems so different from any other game I’ve seen so far, I will definitely be playing this at some point.

Price on Steam: £13.49

8. Laser League.

The next game in the bundle is an Early Access multiplayer game called Laser League. The aim of the game appears to e the team controlling the most nodes at the end of the match. I’ll be honest, this is not my sort of game but I can see how this will appeal to people who love fast multiplayer gameplay.

Price on Steam: £10.99

8. Lyric Sonata.

And the final game in the bundle, as always, is the Humble Original called Lyric Sonata. This game appears to be platforming game, with the platforms being musical notes. It appears you create music as you platform. It seems like a really unique idea but I’m not sure how long it would hold a player’s attention. Still, it is one of the few Humble Originals that has grabbed my attention.

And that was the April Monthly bundle! The entire bundle came to a total value of £163.42 and with only two games that already own, Lara Croft GO and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, this was definitely a bundle worth my money. For me, the game I’m most excited about is Aer: Memories of Old, what game in the bundle stood out to you? Let me know in the comments!

May’s bundle also has three revealed games, which are: Dead Rising 4Kerbal Space Program and Ruiner. If any of those games interest you, head over to Humble Bundle and subscribe to the monthly bundle, which will allow you to play these game straight away. If you don’t want to, no worries as I’ll be taking a look at this bundle next month. See you soon!

  1. Deus Ex had really tempted me to get this month’s bundle, but I didn’t end up taking the plunge on it. Seems to have worked out, as I’m not too interested in any of the others it has to offer this month. Don’t know if I can resist April’s bundle, though.

      1. If you have any questions, feel free to ask… And the game’s forums are pretty civilized and helpful. (Not to say there aren’t bad apples, but they’re few and far between.)
