Harry Potter Challenge: Day 18. Favourite Horcux.

Today we have another cheerful subject- my favourite Horcrux.

Like yesterday’s post, this a pretty dark subject because of what a Horcrux is. A Horcrux is an object that a witch or wizard a hides a portion of their soul within, in order to attain immortality. The catch is that in order to create a Horcrux, the witch or wizard must murder someone. Naturally anyone attempting to create a Horcrux ends up losing their humanity. Lord Voldemort ended up with seven Horcruxes:

  • Tom Riddle’s diary.
  • Marvolo Gaunt’s ring.
  • Salazar Slytherin’s locket.
  • Helga Hufflepuff’s cup.
  • Rowena Ravenclaw’s diadem.
  • Nagini the snake.
  • Harry Potter.

This won’t come as a surprise but Harry is my favourite Horcrux as he was the Horcrux that Voldemort had unwittingly created. There is something incredibly ironic that one of the Horcruxes keeping Voldemort alive was the one person he really wanted to kill.

Tomorrow, we’re moving onto a slightly less Dark Magic orientated topic, my favourite Deathly Hallow. See you then!

  1. wow, Horcrux is very interesting. I would love to have it coz I’m more on to witches and wizards myself. However, if base in real life having one means killing someone then that would be off hand. Yep harry potter’s Horcrux is much cooler since it doesn’t involve any blood shed. great article, cheers!
