Thero’s Gift Ideas: Buying For A Final Fantasy Fan.

You have a friend, family member or loved one who loves Final Fantasy. The problem is you can’t tell the difference between a Moogle and a Chocobo. Not to worry, this handy gift guide is here to help!

In order to find an ideal gift for a Final Fantasy fan is to find out which is their favourite Final Fantasy  game. Trust me, there is a big difference between each game. Once you have this information, you are all set to find them the perfect gift!

Let’s start off with the slightly more obvious gifts, like soundtrack CDs. Final Fantasy games have some of the most beautifully orchestrated music in any video game series. A bold statement, I know, but listen this music on Youtube if you don’t believe me. Square Enix offers some slightly pricey options for limited edition soundtrack collections. These collections also include behind-the-scene videos and additional content, alongside the soundtrack.

Another (pricey) option is figurines of the characters from the various games. These figurines range greatly in price and styles. I personally like the more realistic style of the Play Arts Kai figures, but they are the most expensive. Still, there is plenty to choose from and if you know which character is your special someones favourite, then these would make a great personal gift!

Let’s look at something a little cheaper in price. My next suggestion would be a great gift for anyone who enjoys card games like Magic: The Gathering. Yes, there is a Final Fantasy trading card game. And yes, I do own a deck myself (the Final Fantasy X themed one, naturally). There are currently five different starter sets to choose from: Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XIII and  Final Fantasy Type-0. Each starter set comes with a 50 card deck, play mat and rules. The only downside is you will have to buy a second deck to play with your special someone. On the other hand, the artwork is beautiful and any Final Fantasy  fan would be happy looking through these cards.

Next up, there are the plushies. For years, Square Enix has been making soft toys of their most iconic characters and monsters. I own of the Final Fantasy XIV chocobos, rest assured these are well made and somehow manage to justify the price tag. Again, if you know which characters your Final Fantasy  fan likes, then your decision is easy, if not you can’t go wrong with a Chocobo (the yellow bird).

OK, maybe you don’t know which is their favourite game, or you don’t want them to guess what you are getting them. That’s OK, there are still some options. 2017 is a big year for the Final Fantasy series, as it is the 30th anniversary of the first game’s release. So, Square Enix has released several items to celebrate this milestone. These items include T-shirts, bags and postcards, that would be an ideal gift for any fan of the series.

And there were my suggestions for gifts for a Final Fantasy fan! I’ll be honest there are a lot of merchandise out there, so I restricted myself to only official merchandise. Hopefully, this will give you a good idea or some inspiration for the perfect gift.
