Since the festive season is nearly upon us, I thought I might share some gift ideas for the Harry Potter fan in your life.
Welcome to my page of gift ideas that would be ideal for a fan of the Harry Potter series. If you are stumped over what to buy or perhaps overwhelmed by the amount of merchandise available to buy, the allow me to make a few suggestions. I would like to say, that all the items I suggest on this page, I have bought for myself or for my Potter obsessed loved one, so these recommendations are made on my personal experience. Also, since I live in UK, some of things I suggest may not be available in other countries.
Now, I’m guessing that your fan has already bought the books (and probably in several different editions) so I won’t go into the actual book series. Instead, I would suggest The Hogwarts Library. This collection includes three hardback books: Quidditch Through The Ages, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them and The Tales Of Beedle the Bard. These three books are actually books that the characters in the Harry Potter series read, which J.K. Rowling then actually wrote to raise money for Comic Relief and Lumos.
Perhaps your fan enjoys writing, in which case I would suggest looking at Insight Editions journals and stationery sets. The journals come in Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hogwarts and Deathly Hallows designs. The journal s are hardback and the paper quality is excellent. I’ve bought several of the Insight edition journals and the quality of them make them ideal gifts. If you wanted a slightly more expensive gift, then you might want to looks at the Harry Potter Deluxe Stationery Sets. Again these come in Gryffindor, Slytherin and Hogwarts designs and include: one of the journals, a wax stamp and wax sticks; writing paper, envelopes and a paperweight.
Maybe the Harry Potter fan in your life is creative but enjoys colouring instead of writing. Well, like a lot of popular series, Harry Potter has had several colouring books, all published by Studio Press. Currently there are three available: Harry Potter Colouring Book; Harry Potter Magical Creatures Colouring Book and Harry Potter Magical Places and Characters Colouring Book. The design are very detailed and would provide a nice challenge. There are also screenshots from the films, to give the colourer an idea of what colour schemes to use. Personally, I can’t think of anything better, after a hectic Christmas, than to sit down to some relaxing colouring.
If your fan is going outside in the winter weather, perhaps you could buy them one of the house scarfs by Cinereplicas. These are adult sized scarves are adult sized and come in the four choices, one for each of the Hogwarts school houses: Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. Each scarf is that particular House’s colours and has the House crest. These are excellent quality but are a little pricey.
If you don’t mind spending a bit of money, then you may want to consider a replica wand
from The Noble Collection. There are a number of different wands, based off of characters’ wands from the Harry Potter films. So if you can subtly find out which character is your fan’s favourite, you can give them a really personal gift! The Noble Collection also do a number of other replicas including wizard coins and figures of some of the creatures seen in the film.
If you were looking for a stocking filler, then I would suggest Jelly Belly’s Chocolate Frogs and Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans. These are sweets from the Harry Potter series and would be suitable for any Harry Potter fan’s stocking or to add to their present.
So there are some gift suggestions for that Harry Potter fan in your life. I hope this had helped some of you, if it has let me know in the comments! If you are stuck buying gifts for a geeky friend/family member, let me know- I may have a few suggestions!
